The department is tasked with the provision of basic and major infrastructural support systems in the county. Road networks have so far received major boosts in the county since the onset of devolution. A total of 1300km of murram roads have so far been improved with another 200km new roads being opened for tourism, business and boosting security. Boreholes have also been drilled and commissioned in some of the water resources needy areas with several ground water explorations and utilizations being done. The department has also carried out the improvement and the opening of new access roads. Maralal town at the county headquarters has also benefited from a 10km road tarmacking project and street lighting.
